People involved: Who is who?

WHO IS WHO

PEOPLE INVOLVED

John Christopher Depp II

Accused by his ex-wife, Amber Heard (“AH“) of assault and domestic violence. The British newspaper The Sun called him publicly “wifebeater”, so Depp decided to sue them for defamation. Among the witnesses called to testify in a public and highly mediated trial, which took place in London (United Kingdom), was AH herself. Contrary to the expected, Depp lost the lawsuit. After the trial, it was speculated about the possible influences that AH could have on the judge Mr. Justice Nicol.

In a parallel, Depp started another litigation against AH also for defamation, following an article that she wrote in the Washington Post and in which she accused him, without naming him, of domestic violence. The trial is planned for the 11 of April, 2022 in the court of Fairfax County, in the State of Virginia (United States).

JD has a long list of witnesses that will testify on his favor. All of them agree on the same premise that turns the tables on what has happened so far: It wasn’t Depp who abused for years his then wife, if not the opposite; it would have been Heard herself who would have abused physically and verbally of Depp in numerous occasions.

Amber Laura Heard

Accused her ex-husband, Johnny Depp (“JD“). She declared in JD’s trial against the British newspaper The Sun, in support of the representatives of the newspaper. She told her version of the events, in which she assured to have been victim of domestic violence from his then husband.

Now Depp sues Heard for defamation and presents a generous list of proofs and testimonies that will categorically deny Heard’s version, having been her the one who would have physically and verbally abused his husband for years, with proof such as photographs or recorded conversations, which would prove that Heard admitted having punched Depp and having thrown objects at him, one of which (a glass bottle) severed part of JD’s finger, who had to need surgery to reconstruct it.

THE JUDGES

Judge Andrew Nicol (Mr. Justice Nicol)

He was the judge in charge of the case of Johnny Depp against the British newspaper The Sun, taken place in 2020 in the Royal Courts of Justice of London. Time after the trial, information was leaked according to which he would be considered related to Heard, since they already knew each other.

Judge Penney S. Azcarate

She’s the judge in charge of the case of Johnny Depp against Amber Heard that will take place between April and May of 2022 in the Fairfax County General District Court (Virginia, United States).

Rebecca MacDowell Lecaroz

Latest lawyer to join Johnny Depp’s legal team for the upcoming trial of Virginia (United States). With her, Depp’s legal representation would be equal, consisting of three men and three women.

Roberta Kaplan

Time’s Up co-founder, the movement that fights against the sexual misconduct in Hollywood. Kaplan was part of the team of lawyers for the defense of AH against the lawsuit filed by her ex-husband.

In June of 2020, Kaplan, along with other lawyers from Heard’s team (John Quinn, Julie Fink and Davida Brook), announced that they resigned to legally represent her. The official reason was the hard situation because of the pandemic.

According to Adam Waldman, representative of Depp’s legal team, the resignation seems to have more to do with the growing suspicion that the accusation of Depp being violent with his ex-wife could be a set-up made by Heard herself. This, according to Waldman, would explain the resignation, since representing her could have a negative impact in Kaplan’s image, being her the image of the movement Time’s Up.

Elaine Charlson Bredehoft

Lawyer that took the legal representation of Amber Heard for the upcoming trial of Virginia (United States), after resigning her previous team of lawyers.

J. Benjamin Rottenborn

Jacob Bloom

Famous Hollywood lawyer that legally represented JD for 20 years. After a legal battle against his company regarding their fees, Depp and Bloom resolved the dispute through an economic agreement. Since then, Bloom stopped representing his client. That was when Depp resorted to other lawyers for his other legal battle against AH.

Note:

There have been more lawyers involved in the defense of all parties. Even so, we’ve highlighted the most representative ones.

THE DEFENDANTS

Dan Wootton

CEO of the British newspaper The Sun, responsible of the article in which Johnny Depp was accused of being a “wifebeater”. Because of that, he was called as a defendant in trial that took place in London, although in the end the judge dismissed the accusation.

Anthony D. Romero

Executive director of the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union), the association to which AH allegedly would have promised to donate 3,5 million dollars of the 7 million that she received after the divorce settlement (another 3,5 would be destined to the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, according to Heard).

As supposed gratitude for the donation, Romero named AH “Ambassador” of the ACLU for Women’s Rights.

After the petition of JD’s lawyers to obligate the ACLU to declare if they had really received the donation, the association refused. Even so, JD got his petition accepted. In the end, Elaine Bredehoft, AH’s lawyer, recognized that the donation was delayed, although she excused her in that she had to spend the money in defending herself from the accusations thrown by JD.

Investigating about the source of said donations, JD’s lawyers found a set of emails exchanged in June of 2017 between Anthony Romero and AH. In those it’s revealed that the ACLU had received a donation of 350.000 dollars from Heard, another donation of 100.000 dollars from JD in Heard’s behalf and a third “anonymous” donation of 500.000 dollars which, according to the emails, came from “Elon” (presumably referring to Elon Musk, with whom AH had an affair while she was still married to JD).

JD’s lawyers ended up suing the association.

Joel y Robert Mandel

Owners of The Mandel Group (TMG), the company that handled JD’s business. According to his statement, he had been “informed by the house staff that Depp had an erratic personality and that on some occasions he had caused physical harm to Heard”.

January 2017

The Mandel brothers were called to declare after the lawsuit that JD filed against them at the beginning of 2017 with which he accused them of evading the payment of his taxes for 16 years, and for which he demanded 25 million dollars from them. According to Depp, the malpractice of his financial managers caused him to lose “tens of millions of dollars”.

THE EXPERTS

Dr. Dawn Hughes

Forensic psychologist. She testifies in favor of AH in the trial held in Fairfax (Virginia).

Dr. Connell Cowan

AH’s psychologist during her relationship with JD. Despite being an expert and following the relationship from up close, Cowan isn’t a key witness for Heard.

👁️ He never saw marks on AH.
👁️ He recognized that AH was a violent person that would always fight back.

Dr. David Kipper

Doctor of AH and JD. He was the one who treated Depp after the incident with the glass bottle. After observing the severity of the injury, he recommended separating Heard from Depp as soon as possible.

March 8, 2015

He was, with the nurse Debbie Lloyd, present in the property of Australia where the incident with the bottle occurred. From some sound recordings made by AH herself, we could listen, both him and Lloyd, being surprised by the state in which the scene had been left after the fight, while they were looking for the piece of finger that AH tore off of JD to be able to get it back through surgery.

During the recording, Lloyd asks Kipper if it would be convenient to increase Heard’s Seroquel dose (a potent antipsychotic that she was taking), to which Dr. Kipper agreed.

👁️ He never saw marks on AH.
👁️ He saw the scene of the incident.
👁️ He observed the severity of JD’s injury.

Doctor. She appears in the witness list proposed by JD for the trial in Virginia (United States), although in the end she hasn’t testified.

Dra. Laurel Avis Anderson

Couple therapist. She’s one of the expert witnesses provided by JD for the trial in Virginia (United States). In her statement, she highlights that AH had a fast and aggressive way of speaking, not letting JD communicate his thoughts. It was during the separate sessions when Anderson saw that Depp could express himself calmly.

Dr. Richard Shaw

Doctor. He appears on the witness list presented by JD for the trial in Virginia (United States).

Dr. Richard S. Gilbert

Surgeon who performed JD’s operation to regraft his finger. He appears on the witness list presented by JD for the trial in Virginia (United States).

Dra. Shannon J. Curry

Clinical psychologist. She appears on the witness list presented by JD for the trial in Virginia (United States).

Debbie Lloyd

She’s the nurse that treated with Dr. Kipper AH and JD. She was, with Kipper, present in the property of Australia where the incident with the bottle occurred.

From some sound recordings made by AH herself, we could listen, both her and Kipper, being surprised by the state in which the scene had been left after the fight, while they were looking for the piece of finger that AH tore off of JD to be able to get it back through surgery.

During the recording, Lloyd asks Kipper if it would be convenient to increase Heard’s Seroquel dose (a potent antipsychotic that she was taking), to which Dr. Kipper agreed.

March 23, 2015

According to the statement of Travis McGivern, member of JD’s security team, Lloyd was present during the incident in which AH and JD had an argument while Whitney Henriquez, AH’s sister, and McGivern were present.

👁️ AH confessed to her that she snorted cocaine.

Melissa Saenz

May 21, 2016

She’s one of the policemen from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), along with Tyler Hadden, who went to JD’s apartment after AH’s call the night of May 21, 2016, after one of the alleged incidents.

According to her statement, both AH and her companions didn’t cooperate with the officers. It took them a while to let them in for the inspection of the apartment, they refused to give their names or details and they refused to testify or receive medical assistance.

👁️ She didn’t see marks of aggression on AH.
👁️ The scene of the incident that she found didn’t correspond to the one described by AH.

Rachel Frost

Veteran domestic violence investigator, CEO of the Frost Iced research company. She was hired by AH and appears as a witness in the list that she presented to trial.

Tyler Hadden

May 21, 2016

He’s one of the policemen from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), along with Melissa Saenz, who went to JD’s apartment after AH’s call the night of May 21, 2016, after one of the alleged incidents.

👁️ The scene of the incident that he found didn’t correspond to the one described by AH.

William Gatlin

May 21, 2016

He’s one of the policemen from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), along with Melissa Saenz, who went to JD’s apartment after AH’s call the night of May 21, 2016, after one of the alleged incidents.

His inspection was recorded by a portable security camera, whose images were used as proof in the trial. According to Heard, JD had destroyed the apartment after an argument. In those recordings, we can see that the scene that the patrol found was very different to the one described by AH and the friends that accompanied her.

Besides, both AH her companions didn’t cooperate with the officers. It took them a while to let them in for the inspection of the apartment, they refused to give their names or details and they refused to testify or receive medical assistance.

👁️ He didn’t see marks of aggression on AH.

👁️ He claims that the evidence presented by AH could have been digitally altered.

Doug Bania

Intellectual Property Advisor and expert in defamation damages. He’s called to declare as an expert witness in the trial against AH in Fairfax (Virginia, United States), as support to Depp’s version.

Michael Spindler

Certified Expert in Economic Damages and Fraud. He appears on the witness list proposed by JD as an expert that analyzes the financial impact that JD could have because of AH’s defamations in her article published in the Washington Post.

Richard Marks

Expert in the entertainment industry. He appears on the witness list proposed by JD as an expert that analyzes the impact at the image level that could have AH’s defamations in her article published in the Washington Post in JD’s professional career.

Edward L. White

Senior partner of financial advisor Edward White & Co., L.L.P. He manages JD’s financial affairs since March 14, 2016, after Depp sued TMG, the company formed by the Mandel brothers, whom he accused of defaults, tax evasion and having made him lose millions of dollars.

He was part of a meeting with JD and his sister Christi Dembrowski, among other representatives, on April 21, 2016, just before, presumably, AH was assaulted by JD, after an argument in which she reproached him for being late for her birthday party.

White supports Depp’s version assuring that they were in a work meeting that lasted between 1 hour and a half and 2 hours, in which JD showed no signs of being under the influence of any drug; quite the opposite. According to White, Depp couldn’t have managed a meeting like that had he been high.

White affirms that, most likely, JD went straight home after the meeting, since the meeting ended late.

Jerry Judge

He was JD’s security boss and bodyguard for 22 years. He got to have a close relationship with him and he was known among Depp’s fans as his Guardian Angel.

March 8, 2015

Judge took care of managing the situation during the incident in Australia, where AH hurt JD’s finger throwing him a glass bottle. He coordinated his security team to get Depp out of the house immediately and take him to the Emergency Room.

At the same time, he himself stayed at the house, destroyed after Heard’s violent attack, where she still was. In some audio recordings made by Heard herself, you can hear Judge talking on the phone, supposedly with Depp’s sister. In those recordings, Judge reveals the details about the fight.

May 21, 2016

Judge and his partner Sean Bett took JD to the Eastern Columbia building of Los Angeles, where his complex of 3 penthouses is. JD warned them to wait at the door of one of the apartments, in which him and AH habitually resided, since his intention was to speak with her and he presaged that the situation could end up in an argument.

Judge and Bett, having been witnesses on numerous occasions of AH’s temper, remained alert in case they had to get Depp out of the apartment. When they heard Heard scream, they rushed in. They found Depp more than 20 steps away from her, who was yelling that Depp had hit her, which he denied, upset by the accusation. They decided to get Depp out immediately.

Jerry Judge passed away on April 5, 2019 of cancer.

👁️ He saw the severity of JD’s injury and he was the one who found the piece of finger that AH tore off.
👁️ He only saw a wound on AH’s arm, according to him, self-inflicted.
👁️ He saw the scene of the incident.
👁️ He recognized that AH was violent, and that she should be guarded by “someone strong, in case she returned to action”.
👁️ AH confessed to him that she was the one who started hitting JD.
👁️ He saw the burn on JD’s face, inflicted by AH with a cigarette.

Malcolm Connolly

He’s one of Johnny’s bodyguards. He has worked for him and his family from 16 years ago to the present.

March 8, 2015

He was in charge of taking JD to the Emergency Room after AH hurt his finger with a glass bottle in Australia. He declared that Heard’s version didn’t fit with what he could see. According to Connolly, the wound was quite serious. Depp even confessed to him that Heard had put out a cigarette on his cheek, whose mark Connolly could see perfectly on Depp’s face.

👁️ He saw the severity of JD’s injury.
👁️ He saw the scene of the incident.
👁️ He saw AH in more than one occasion throwing objects at JD.
👁️ He affirmed seeing AH being violent on several occasions.
👁️ He saw the burn on JD’s face, inflicted by AH with a cigarette.

Starling Jenkins, III

Former Marine and bodyguard of JD and his family since 1993.

April 21, 2016

Before AH was allegedly assaulted by JD in their penthouse in Los Angeles (California), she confessed to him that she had thrown JD’s mobile phone out the window. Jenkins found it in the hands of a homeless person, who returned it in exchange for money and food.

The next day, Jenkins accompanied AH and her friends to the Coachella festival and escorted them throughout the weekend. He didn’t see any signs of having suffered violence on her face or body. He heard her talk in more than one occasion about how angry she was that JD was late to her birthday, but he didn’t hear her talk about being assaulted. He could clearly see her and her friends spend the weekend intoxicated, and he even saw Heard throwing up on at least one occasion.

👁️ He never saw JD behave violently with AH.
👁️ He didn’t see any marks on AH’s face.
👁️ During the arguments between JD and AH, he always saw JD adopt a passive tone and an intention to leave the scene.
👁️ He saw AH in more than one occasion throwing objects at JD.
👁️ He affirmed having seen AH being violent on several occasions.
👁️ He saw the burn on JD’s face, inflicted by AH with a cigarette.

Sean Bett

He has been working for 9 years as JD’s bodyguard. He was previously working with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for over 5 years.

Bett, who used to spend 5 to 7 days a week with the couple, recalls a very common dynamic in them. AH initiated the arguments, she became physically and verbally violent against JD and he ended up withdrawing or isolating himself to stop the argument, behavior that further infuriated Heard, who sought to provoke Depp.

He recognized that these types of situations usually began after AH had consumed alcohol, so he learned to recognize the signs before the argument started, so that he could get JD out of the room before it started.

April 21, 2016

He was the one who drove JD back home from his work meeting. That same night, JD asked him to pick him up again and take him to his other property. JD confessed to him that AH had punched him in the face, whose wound Bett could see perfectly, so he decided to take a picture of him that accompanied his subsequent statement of the facts.

May 21, 2016

Bett and his partner Jerry Judge took JD to the Eastern Columbia building of Los Angeles, where his complex of 3 penthouses is. JD warned them to wait at the door of one of the apartments, in which him and AH habitually resided, since his intention was to speak with her and he presaged that the situation could end up in an argument.

Bett and Judge, having been witnesses on numerous occasions of AH’s temper, remained alert in case they had to get Depp out of the apartment. When they heard Heard scream, they rushed in. They found Depp more than 20 steps away from her, who was yelling that Depp had hit her, which he denied, upset by the accusation. They decided to get Depp out immediately.

👁️ He never saw JD behave violently with anyone.
👁️ He never saw any wounds or blows on AH.
👁️ He did saw blows on JD’s face.
👁️ He saw AH being physically and verbally abusive against JD.
👁️ JD confessed to him that AH was physically abusive with him.

Travis McGivern

Member of JD’s security team for 7 years, since March 2013.

March 23, 2015

He was present during the incident in which AH and JD had an argument while Whitney Henriquez, AH’s sister, and Debbie Lloyd, JD’s nurse, were present.

It was precisely JD who asked McGivern to come along with nurse Lloyd. When they arrived, they found Heard yelling at Depp and behaving violently against him. McGivern saw how Heard threw an entire can of Red Bull against Depp’s back, then spit at him and throw her handbag at him from the top floor, from which McGivern took care of protecting Depp.

Contrary to the statements made by Heard and her sister Whitney, McGivern assures that JD at no time hit AH or pushed her sister down the stairs. It was Heard the one who behaved violently at all times against Depp.

👁️ He never saw JD behave violently with AH or her sister.
👁️ He never saw any wounds or blows on AH.
👁️ He saw AH being physically and verbally abusive against JD.
👁️ He had to protect JD from an attack by AH.

Leonard Damian

JD’s former head of security. Damian is on the witness list presented by JD for the trial of Fairfax (Virginia, United States).

Damian’s name first came to light when two of his colleagues resigned claiming “an unsafe work environment”, after Damian shot himself in the leg by mistake.

They also claimed that they didn’t receive the entirety of their payroll, with which Depp ended up suing his tax managers, the Mandel brothers, for non-payment and tax evasion.

Paul Barresi

He’s an American pornographic film director and former actor. AH hired him as a private investigator to try to find any witnesses who could reveal details that would negatively affect Depp’s public image.

Barresi was unable to find a single person who had worked with or was related to Depp in any way who could provide negative information about him. On the contrary, everyone had good words about JD.

THE WITNESSES

Adir Abergel

Stylist that took care of AH’s hair for her appearance on the television show of James Corden, after one of the alleged assaults by JD on AH, after which she alleges that she had a split lip, two black eyes and a lock of hair pulled out.

According to the statements of Heard herself, her friend Raquel Pennington and the stylist who took care of her makeup Melanie Inglessis, Abergel would’ve seen the wounds and had to fix her hair in such a way as to cover the area where the lock was pulled out.

Curiously, the version of the stylist that took care of Heard’s wardrobe, Samantha McMillen, is radically different, who assures that she didn’t see any marks or signs of violence on AH’s face or body.

Abergel, for his part, didn’t testify in the London case, although Heard has included his name in her witness list for the trial of Fairfax (Virginia).

Alejandro Romero

Security guard of the Eastern Columbia building (where JD’s penthouse complex in Los Angeles is located). He spoke face to face with AH on two occasions, both after the alleged assaults by JD.

He was witness of Elon Musk’s visits, Heard’s supposed lover, for more than a year.

Both his superior, Brandon Patterson, and his co-worker, Trinity Esparza, testified along the same lines.

👁️ He never saw marks on AH.

Amanda de Cadenet

Known activist of the #MeToo movement and TV presenter. She was one of AH’s friends and supported her publicly after the events that occurred on May 21, 2016.

Even so, after listening to the audios that were made public, in which Heard verbally assaulted Depp and admitted throwing objects at him and punching him in the jaw, de Cadenet stopped supporting AH’s version and declared in favor of JD.

👁️ She never saw marks on AH.

Ben King

He worked as a manager for JD and AH’s property in London during 2014 and for the mansion in which they both stayed during their stay in Australia in 2015.

The first time he worked for them, he was warned that Depp was a teetotaler. He was surprised that when the couple arrived in London, they brought with them numerous boxes of bottles of wine. King, who came to the property every day, didn’t see Depp drinking at any time during his stay. Instead, Heard consumed a significant amount of wine.

King remembers hearing them argue on occasion. As far as he could understand, it was always AH who started the disputes, usually for trivial reasons. On one occasion, she got mad at JD because he had pulled his hand away from hers, saying: “maybe you don’t love me anymore.”

King also witnessed the state of the property following the incident at the Australia property, during which AH threw glass bottles at JD and severed his finger. He could see Heard after the incident behaving in a “hysterical and emotional” manner.

King offered to escort AH back to Los Angeles. During the flight, AH confessed that the situation had gotten out of hand: “Have you ever been so angry with someone to the point that you lost control?” She asked him twice. Stepping off the plane, King saw cuts on Heard’s arm (cuts that Jerry Judge, JD’s head of security, had acknowledged were self-inflicted). King advised AH to cover her arm so the paparazzi wouldn’t see it, but she didn’t.

👁️ He never saw JD being violent against AH.
👁️ He saw AH provoking JD on several occasions.
👁️ He saw the scene of the incident.

Billie Perry

She lived during 5-6 years in one of JD’s apartments in Los Angeles with her husband Joe Perry (JD’s bandmate in Hollywood Vampires).

👁️ She never saw JD abusing AH.
👁️ JD confessed to her that AH hit him.

Bobby DeLeon

Producer at Infinitum Nihil (United States headquarters), the film production company founded by JD.

DeLeon is on the witness list presented by JD for the trial of Virginia (United States), although finally he hasn’t testified.

Brandon Patterson

General manager of the Eastern Columbia building in Los Angeles where the complex of penthouses owned by JD is located. He witnessed the events that occurred on May 21, 2016 and he never saw signs of having suffered violence on Heard’s face or body. In addition, he viewed numerous security footage in which Heard appeared without any marks, despite having claimed to receive aggression from Depp.

Employees like Trinity Esparza and Alejandro Romero testified on the same line.

👁️ He never saw marks on AH.
👁️ He provided 87 video clips from the building’s security cameras that corroborate that AH showed no signs of violence.

Bruce Witkin

JD’s great friend since Depp was 17 years old. JD auditioned for his band and Witkin convinced him to move with him to Los Angeles. Through a friend, Witkin got Depp to meet Nicolas Cage, who would introduce him to the film industry.

Witkin is on the witness list presented by JD for the trial of Virginia (United States), although finally he hasn’t testified.

Christian Carino

He was for a time AH’s artistic representative. Right after Heard’s restraining order against JD was approved, she skipped her own request, organizing a secret trip with Carino’s help to go see JD, who was on tour in San Francisco.

This came out to light thanks to the text messages that JD and AH sent to Carino, as well as an audio tape in which you can hear Heard asking Depp to hug her, to which he refuses.

👁️ He never saw marks on AH.

Cornelius Harrell

Janitor in the Eastern Columbia building of Los Angeles (United States), where the complex of penthouses owned by JD is located. Harrell worked at the reception of the building the night of May 22 of 2016, right after AH was allegedly beaten by Depp. Harrell, who was face to face with her during several minutes, saw her face without makeup and he didn’t see any kind of marks, bruises, swelling or cuts.

👁️ He never saw marks on AH.

David Heard

AH’s father. Through some text messages published after being accepted as trial evidence, it’s shown that both Heard and his wife got along very well with their son-in-law, JD, even after the accusations of alleged abuse that AH poured on her then husband. On the contrary, in these messages they tried to get him and his daughter to fix things.

But Heard’s attitude towards his son-in-law changed after he learned that Depp had stopped paying for AH’s expenses. David Heard called his daughter’s mechanic in an apparent state of intoxication making serious death threats towards his ex-son-in-law: “That f*cking piece of shit is f*cking me too, because I am supposed to receive 10% of the money, and without him, I can’t produce the film I was going to do. He’s ruining my girl’s career and her reputation in Hollywood. I’m from Texas, and Texas men carry a 45 in their pocket (referring to a gun), and Johnny is going to meet the end of mine”.

David Killackey

Mechanic specialized in the repair and customization of vintage cars. At the request of his client, JD, Killackey was cast in an episode of the television series “Overhaulin,” in which he fixed up an old Mustang owned by AH. The episode aired on December 20, 2014.

Some time later, AH asked him to go to the garage of the building where she lived in Los Angeles to explain how the new sound system that had been installed in her car worked. After more than 3 hours waiting for her, Heard finally came down from her apartment. She got into the driver’s seat of her Mustang, while Killackey took the passenger seat.

As Killackey was about to explain how the sound system worked, AH said something strange and extremely uncomfortable to him: “Here we are, just the two of us in a car parked in a dark garage. We could do anything in here and no one would see us”. Killackey, at a loss for words, decided to ignore the comment and continued to do his job.

Killackey then connected Heard’s cell phone to the car’s screen, bringing up the name of Dr. Kipper, who happened to be Killackey’s client. As an innocent comment, Killackey asked if she knew him too, to which AH reacted unexpectedly and violently. According to Killackey, AH defiantly asked him “How the f*** do you know Dr. Kipper? It’s none of your business!”, whereupon she got out of the car and into the elevator, leaving Killackey totally embarrassed.

In June 2016, due to the divorce process between JD and AH, Kevin Murphy (one of Depp’s financial managers) asked him to separate the bills, so that from that moment on, Heard would be responsible for paying for her Mustang’s repairs. Killackey decided to call Heard to tell her about it and she was furious when she found out about it. AH insulted and verbally assaulted Killackey throughout the phone conversation.

AH’s own father, David Heard, whom Killackey already knew, also called him in an apparent drunken state, hurling verbal abuse at Killackey and death threats against Depp. Since Killackey is the son of a former homicide detective, he knew immediately that such threats were not to be taken lightly, so he informed Depp’s legal team of the situation.

👁️ He never saw marks on AH.

Debbie Rassell

JD’s sister on his mother’s side. Rassell lives away from public life and is a teacher in Kentucky. She is on the list of witnesses proposed by JD for his defense in the trial against AH in Virginia (United States), although she has not finally testified.

Doug Stanhope

American actor and comedian, great friend of JD. He came to his defense against AH’s accusations, even stating that Depp had been blackmailed and threatened by AH days before she claimed to have been assaulted by Depp.

According to his version, AH wanted JD to accept each and every one of the terms of the divorce. Otherwise, she would publicly lie about him. The circle closest to Depp, according to Stanhope, saw all this coming, although they didn’t warn Depp for fear that he would push them aside.

Ellen Barkin

She’s an actress who met Depp during the time he was filming Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Following JD’s breakup with his then-partner Winona Ryder, Depp and Barkin had a brief relationship.

Following AH’s accusations against JD, Barkin stated that Depp had been violent towards her on occasion. Depp denied the facts in the trial, assuring that, while he understood the relationship as “casual”, she wanted something more serious that ultimately didn’t happen. Depp, therefore, alludes to her recent testimony more to “grudge” than to the truth.

Elisa “Christi” Dembrowski

She’s JD’s sister. She has worked for years as his assistant and she’s also the president of Infinitum Nihil, the film production company founded by Depp in 2004.

April 21, 2016

Dembrowski was present at Depp’s meeting with his advisers the day AH accused him of being late and drunk for her birthday. Both Dembrowski and his financial adviser, Edward L. White, as well as Sean Bett, his bodyguard, alleged that JD was in a fully lucid state before, during, and after the meeting, and that he went straight from it to Heard’s birthday party.

Dembrowski has testified as an eyewitness during the trial in Virginia (United States).

Elizabeth Marz

Raquel Pennington’s friend, who in turn was a friend of AH. Pennington and her then-fiancé lived totally free in one of JD’s penthouses in the Eastern Columbia building in Los Angeles, California. Pennington took the liberty of inviting Marz to live there for a while, too, also free of charge.

Gina Deuters

She works at Infinitum Nihil, the film production company founded by JD, as a film director, producer, and visual effects coordinator. Like her husband, who is the European president of the company, she accompanies Depp on all his trips and public appearances.

Deuters is among the list of witnesses proposed by JD to defend his version in the trial in Fairfax (Virginia). Her face-to-face statement was interrupted by AH’s legal team, upon receiving certain information from Eve Barlow, Heard’s friend and commentator on the case. This information, which Barlow obtained illegally by using her cell phone in court, was a post by Gina Deuters on her social media that appeared to refer to the case, something that is off-limits to witnesses until they complete their statement.

Shortly after, the illegality of Barlow came to light, as well as the fact that the publication wasn’t current, but from 2021, referring to the previous trial, held in London. Still, when Judge Azcarate asked Deuters if she had been watching clips from the trial, she was candid and she affirmed it, thus nullifying her testimony.

Greg Ellis

He worked alongside JD on Pirates of the Caribbean. Ellis has defended Depp’s innocence publicly through his Twitter account on numerous occasions.

Greg Williams

English photographer and film director. Famous for his snapshots of entertainment celebrities, including his friend JD.

Williams was called by AH for a photo shoot on the Bahamian island owned by Depp, unbeknownst to him, just the day after a huge argument in which she physically and verbally assaulted Depp, according to his statement and that of Tara Roberts, the property manager. Heard, however, tells another version: that she was the victim of his abuse and that Depp hit her, leaving her, according to her, with broken ribs and a face full of wounds.

Inexplicably, Heard decided that the day after her alleged assault was the right time for an idyllic couple’s photo shoot. Williams evidently saw her, in swimwear and without makeup, and AH had absolutely no marks or signs of violence.

Since then, Williams has publicly defended Depp’s innocence on several occasions.

Hilda Vargas

Domestic worker who worked for JD for more than 30 years. On April 22, 2016, Vargas went, along with another employee who was helping her, to the attic of the Eastern Columbia building where JD and AH habitually resided. While Vargas was cleaning downstairs, her roommate called her from the bedroom upstairs.

When Vargas arrived, human feces were found on the bed. She knew perfectly well that they were human because of their size, since she had cleaned the feces of the couple’s puppies on numerous occasions, and they weren’t even close to that size. Furthermore, they had never defecated on the bed.

Vargas took photos and showed them to JD’s property manager, Ben King. From that moment on, Vargas stopped coming to clean the Eastern Columbia apartment, since she felt uncomfortable with Heard’s presence, and limited herself to taking care of the other apartment, in West Hollywood, which AH rarely went to.

Coincidentally, two days after the incident with the feces, coinciding with the return of AH and her friends from celebrating her birthday at the Coachella festival, AH appeared accompanied by her friend Raquel Pennington at the West Hollywood apartment, while Vargas and some companions were cleaning it. AH got mad at her and accused her of breaking up her marriage with JD because of those photos, denying that there were any feces of her.

Vargas became afraid and wanted to finish the conversation with Heard as soon as possible, since she had seen her on numerous occasions being violent and yelling at various people, including JD.

👁️ She never saw marks on AH.
👁️ She never saw JD behave violently or yell at anyone.
👁️ She saw AH on several occasions yelling at other people.
👁️ She was the one who found the feces, supposedly from AH.

iO Tillett Wright

He’s a photographer and activist friend of AH since 2011. Two years later, in 2013, AH introduced him to JD. Since then, according to his statement, he became part of the family, he felt that he had a great connection with both of them and even JD’s children called him “uncle iO”.

For a time, he was living with them due to personal problems. At that time, Wright claims to have been concerned about JD’s drug and alcohol abuse. According to his statement, both he and everyone around JD began to seriously worry about his addictions and his health. In addition, he claims that JD became a violent person when he was under the influence of drugs.

2013-2014

AH confessed to him that JD physically assaulted her, and that she hadn’t told those around her before for fear that they would advise her to stay away from him.

February 7, 2015

According to Wright, on the day of AH and JD’s wedding in the Bahamas, Depp told him, “Now I can punch her in the face and no one will do anything”.

March 8, 2015

After the incident in Australia, AH told him that it was JD who had cut his own finger. Wright even claims that Johnny confirmed it.

He also remembers seeing the cuts on Heard’s arm.

As a result of Wright’s statement, JD added a paragraph to his third statement to contradict his accusations. He also recalled that when he met him, Wright was going through a rough patch and Depp offered him one of his apartments in the Eastern Columbia building in Los Angeles for free.

Finally, Depp added what he considers to be the reason why Wright would lie against him: on one occasion, Wright manipulated Depp’s daughter, Lily-Rose, who was then a minor (16 years old) to participate at one of his photo shoots. Without her or her parents’ consent, Wright used her image for a campaign for LGBTI rights, claiming that Lily-Rose was bisexual. As soon as he found out about it, Depp cut off relations with Wright and stated that he never wanted to hear from him again.

Isaac Baruch

JD’s friend and neighbor in the Eastern Columbia building in Los Angeles where his penthouse complex is located. He saw AH without makeup several times after the alleged assaults by JD and in no case did he see signs of having suffered violence on her.

JD went to Baruch on more than one occasion for advice. Depp confessed to Baruch that AH liked to start arguments and hit him. At first, Baruch thought he meant “hitting him” as a joke, but soon realized that Depp meant her actually hitting him. Depp even told him that he didn’t know what to do, because he loved her and he wasn’t going to be the type of person to hit her back.

Baruch, in fact, got to see AH on occasion being violent towards JD.

👁️ He never saw marks on AH.
👁️ JD confessed to him on more than one occasion that he had been attacked by AH.
👁️ He saw AH on occasion harassing and instigating JD.

Jack Whigham

JD’s artistic manager (in addition to Tracey Jacobs). He worked at the CAA agency. When he decided to stop working for them, JD stayed with him.

JD included his name on the list of proposed witnesses for the trial. Whigham would testify about the negative impact of AH’s smears in her Washington Post article on Depp’s professional career, although his testimony was ultimately not used.

Janine Rayburn

Former employee of TMG, the financial management company owned by the Mandel brothers that handled JD’s finances until he sued them for wasting his money for years, costing Depp millions of dollars in losses.

In her statement, Rayburn states that she believes that JD wasn’t aware of his financial situation, since he wasn’t usually informed directly of any movement or management. She also stated that she was ordered to notarize documents signed by Depp without him being present or without his prior authorization, which she repeatedly refused.

Apparently, it was her refusal to carry out those orders that caused her to be fired.

Jennifer Howell

Founder of the organization The Art of Elysium (at whose annual gala JD and AH were publicly seen together for the first time) and former boss of Whitney Heard Henriquez, AH’s sister. According to her statement, Whitney confessed to her that her sister was “extremely violent” and that she didn’t understand how JD “was putting up with Amber’s abuse.”

She also confessed to her that on one occasion she had to stop her sister to prevent her from attacking Depp. In her attempt to stop her, AH nearly threw Whitney down the stairs. According to Howell’s statement, Whitney told her that she was afraid Amber would end up “killing Johnny”.

Whitney denied Howell’s entire statement.

👁️ AH’s sister confessed to her that AH was violent, that she had seen her attacking JD and that she feared she would kill him.

Jessica Weitz

Director of Artistic Recruitment at the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union). Weitz appeared on a first list of people contributed by Depp in support of his lawsuit against AH in 2019 for her article in the Washington Post.

Jodi Gottlieb

AH’s former publicist. She claimed, according to Jennifer Howell’s statement, that AH had chosen the ACLU and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles as the organizations to donate her divorce money to because they would generate the most “media reach”.

Josh Richman

JD’s friend for over 30 years. He was one of the guests at the link between JD and AH on the island of the Bahamas.

According to his statement, AH forced JD to get married as soon as possible, something Depp wasn’t entirely comfortable with. Depp himself confessed to Richman that he was afraid of Heard’s reaction if he ever decided to leave her. Richman also assures that, among JD’s friends, dissatisfaction with the relationship between the two was openly discussed, since they had all seen Heard verbally mistreat her then-fiancé on several occasions. Even so, they decided to be with their friend on his wedding day.

During the celebration, and according to Richman’s statement, he was able to witness an argument between two of Heard’s friends, iO Tillet Wright and Raquel “Rocky” Pennington, about who was in charge of handling the bride’s “frivolous requests” for the details of the ceremony. Wright ended up slapping Pennington in the face, something he later proudly confessed to Richman.

After learning of AH’s subsequent statements about having been a victim of domestic violence by JD, Richman says that it immediately reminded him of something his friend Depp once confessed to him. Apparently, after one of their arguments, Heard locked herself in the bathroom, only to come out minutes later with a supposedly bloody handkerchief on her nose, claiming that Depp had hit her and made her bleed. JD managed to keep the handkerchief, which he confessed to him that he still kept as evidence, which turned out to be not blood stained, but nail polish.

Joshua Drew

Raquel “Rocky” Pennington’s ex-husband, AH’s friend. The two lived in one of JD’s penthouses in the Eastern Columbia Building in Los Angeles.

Drew’s statement is based primarily on what his then-wife told him, which in turn stemmed from Heard’s version of events. Only on two occasions was Drew present for his testimony to be relevant.

January 13, 2015

Curiously, long before Drew allegedly witnessed any assault or violence by Depp, Drew exchanged messages with Heard, sending her a photo of his collection of hunting knives and, referring to them, a message that read: “I’ll bring them just in case”, to which Heard replied “Good man”, followed by laughter. AH then continued: “How pretty. But it would be too easy”.

December 15, 2015

The first time Drew was present during one of the discussions between AH and JD was in 2015, in the Eastern Columbia building in Los Angeles, where he, his ex-wife, JD and AH resided. His then-wife, Raquel Pennington, had stayed with her friend Heard. As she didn’t respond to her messages, both she and her husband decided to leave the attic where they lived and go to the one where AH and JD lived to look for her. According to Drew, when they entered the apartment, they found the kitchen floor littered with objects. He remembers reading the words “Why be a fraud? It’s all lies” written on the counter, which he recognized as Depp’s handwriting. Pennington told him something wasn’t right and she sent Drew back home.

Between 10 and 15 minutes later, Drew received a message from Pennington saying that Depp had kicked Heard in the head, pulled out clumps of her hair and tried to strangle her, so they had to call Dr. Kipper to examine her.

Drew claims in his statement to have seen Heard that same night with bruises on both eyes, nose and forehead. He also claims to have seen Heard terrified when she remembered that the next day she had a television appearance scheduled, so she called Melanie Inglessis, her makeup artist, to allegedly cover her injuries.

April 21, 2016

The second time Drew was present as a witness was on April 21, 2016, also at the apartment complex where they all resided. It was during AH’s birthday party. According to Drew, it took hours for JD to arrive and by the time he did, he arrived “clearly intoxicated.” Agreeing with his statement, Depp stammered and staggered.

Like the rest of the guests, he didn’t see any aggression from Depp, since, according to the version of Heard’s friends, it happened after everyone left.

May 21, 2016

Drew was in the apartment owned by JD, where he lived with his wife, Raquel Pennington. AH warned Pennington to watch for messages from her, as Depp was planning to go talk to her. When Pennington received a message from Heard, she ran to her apartment to help her, while Drew stayed in the apartment where he resided.

According to his statement, Drew didn’t see anything, but heard a loud bang, which he attributed to a bottle that Depp had thrown at the door. He claims that JD yelled and swore at him, while Elizabeth Marz, one of Heard and Pennington’s friends who also lived in the apartment for free, was hiding upstairs.

Supposedly, JD left the apartment where Drew, Pennington, and Marz lived, causing AH to come in “to protect her.” Once inside, Heard told them that JD had “tried to strangle her.” Heard was apparently on the phone with his friend iO Tillet Wright when Depp “threw his own phone in her face.” Wright, hearing what was happening, would have called the police. When Depp disappeared, Heard kept Depp’s phone.

Moments later, Depp’s head of security, Jerry Judge, called Drew asking if he had seen his phone. Drew told him that it was better that Depp didn’t enter the apartment again (despite it being Depp’s property), and he decided to go to the entrance to give it to Judge.

According to Drew, Judge asked him if “she was okay,” to which he allegedly replied, “How is she going to be okay? He just beat the crap out of her and you guys just watched.” Judge then replied, “That’s not my problem.”

Next, according to Drew, Pennington called Heard’s attorney, Samantha Spector, while Heard called her publicist, Jodi Gottlieb. Drew greeted the police officers 15 minutes later. Drew says that he showed them the broken glass, the wine stain on the floor and scattered objects, and that the agents “realized that something had happened”.

Apparently, one of the officers confirmed to Drew that he had seen a red mark on Heard’s face, but both police officers denied in their statements that they saw any signs of violence. In fact, their visit was recorded by a portable security camera carried by one of the agents, which recorded a totally different version from the one told by Drew and the rest of those involved. In addition, minutes later a second patrol arrived, who also searched the property without seeing any signs of having committed a violent act.

Finally, Drew states that the next day he saw bruises and redness on Heard’s face.

Kate James

Personal assistant in the entertainment industry for over 20 years. She worked for AH for approximately 3 years (2012-2015).

March 2012 – February 2015

According to James, when she started working for Heard, she referred to JD as “that fat old man”. James, for her part, remembers Depp as a nice, quiet and even shy man. She also remembers that he was very courteous to her.

During the time she was around him, James recognizes Depp as a “genuinely decent” person. On one occasion, James took her son to her work and says that JD was very kind to him, even patiently teaching him how to play the guitar. When Depp came back from a trip, he always remembered to bring something to James’s son, which she saw as a nice detail, since after all, she worked for Heard and not for him. James assures that, if she had had the slightest indication that Depp could be a violent or dangerous person, she would never have let her son get close to him.

On the contrary, Heard didn’t give her the same impression, not even remotely. From the moment she started working for her, James saw her every day of the week and, she assures, Heard consumed large amounts of alcohol on a very regular basis. At the same time, AH herself asked her to buy non-alcoholic beer for Depp.

James routinely saw Heard nude or semi-nude at costume fittings, and she never saw any signs of violence (bumps, cuts, bruises, or redness) on her body or face at all. She also didn’t see the aftermath described by AH after the altercations she describes.

September 2014

According to James’ statement, AH hired one of her friends, Savannah McMillan (of British nationality), as her second assistant. At one of her entrances to the United States, McMillan was questioned by the Department of Homeland Security, who asked her why her visits to the country were due. McMillan only had a tourist visa, so AH decided to write a letter denying that she had hired her and claiming that she was just her friend.

Heard then asked James to take care of sending that letter to the Department of Homeland Security. James was aware of the falsity of the statements in said letter, and therefore, the subject of a crime, so she took photos of the letter and a check that AH issued to McMillan, documents that she presented together with her statement in the trial.

March 2015

Until that date, James and Kevin Murphy (who worked for JD), had been in charge of formalizing the necessary documents so that the couple’s dogs, Pistol and Boo, could travel abroad with them without any problem.

Weeks before the trip to Australia, both James and Murphy repeatedly warned AH that the paperwork to bring the pets into the country would take longer. AH chose to repeatedly ignore their recommendations, ultimately resulting in late approval from the Australian government. She went so far as to ask James via email if she knew of any vets she could bribe. Regardless, AH deliberately decided to smuggle the dogs into Australian territory outside of the allowed days.

When the Australian government accused her of the act, Heard’s response was to publicly and under oath accuse James.

June 25, 2020

Reading AH’s statement, James was shocked to find a paragraph in which Heard alleged that she had been raped by JD. James then remembered that, years before, she had confessed to Heard that she had been raped during a trip to Brazil.

James was shocked as AH narrated the events, realizing that Heard had stolen and passed off the rape story as her own.

Katherine Kendall

Actress, bullying survivor, and public advocate for the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements. Kendall is not directly related to any of those involved, but her status as a public defender of said social movements caused her to be persecuted by a journalist who called herself Zoe, whom Kendall describes in her statement as “extremely insistent ” and “poorly educated”.

Zoe insisted on interviewing her until Kendall finally agreed. Some time later, Kendall discovered an article in the British newspaper The Sun (which JD later sued for defamation) in which the case between JD and AH was discussed, and in which Kendall was quoted totally misrepresenting her words.

Kendall, who never met Dan Wootton (author of the article), immediately wrote to the journalist who interviewed her, letting her know that they had manipulated the interview and had spoken on her behalf without her authorization.

Keenan Wyatt

He’s JD’s friend and his personal sound technician. He was with him on the flight from Boston to Los Angeles on May 24, 2014, along with other members of Depp’s team, AH and her then-assistant. On that flight, according to Heard’s account, JD got drunk and started making fun of her then-fiancée, even tripping her up when she got up from her seat. The rest of the witnesses contradict Heard’s version.

Wyatt has testified in person at the trial held in Fairfax (Virginia).

Kevin McNally

He worked alongside JD on all of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. McNally publicly defended him, stating that he doesn’t understand the saga without his character, Jack Sparrow.

Kevin Murphy

Administrator of the properties owned by JD for 8 years. He was in charge of processing the necessary documentation to be able to legally introduce the couple’s dogs, Pistol and Boo, into Australia.

👁️ AH encouraged him to falsify documents.

Kristina Sexton

AH’s friend and acting assistant since 2009. She was in charge of helping her rehearse roles, record her tests, and accompany her to auditions. Of all the situations described in her statement, there are very few in which her testimony could be relevant, since much of her narration comes from what AH told her.

According to Sexton’s statement, when she started working for AH, JD didn’t want AH to have an acting coach, so they had to go to another room to rehearse. Later, according to Sexton, he didn’t like the roles she got for AH, so Heard ended up turning them down. Supposedly, Depp was concerned about how this might reflect on his own public image. She also claims to have heard JD tell AH “If you’re not going to do something good, I don’t want you to do it.” Sexton narrates that she was waiting downstairs as she heard him yell at Heard. By the time Heard came down, she was so upset she couldn’t work.

Apparently, Heard confessed to her, according to her version, that Depp was jealous of her exes and co-workers. Depp allegedly told Heard that he didn’t want her to be alone on the set and that he only allowed her to be alone when he was present. AH also told her that Depp didn’t want her to model because, according to Sexton’s statement, “it made her look like a cheap wh*ore”.

When they weren’t together, Sexton claims that Depp wrote to Heard obsessively at all hours and forced her to answer immediately.

In the same way, she bases her statement on Heard’s words, assuring that Depp had become violent against her after drinking. Sexton contradicts herself by stating that she had a glass of whiskey with him that night and saw him act totally normal. At the same time, she claims to have heard JD say that it was “easy to falsify medical check-ups.” AH, who referred to JD as “the monster”, allegedly told Sexton that Depp wanted to have children with her, but that she didn’t want them with an addict.

2013

The first time Sexton claims to have seen Depp’s “volatile behavior” was in Hicksville, during his birthday. Sexton claims to have seen him smoking marijuana, taking “a white powder” and consuming hallucinogenic mushrooms.

When she woke up the next morning, Raquel Pennington, another friend of AH’s, told her that Depp had threatened another woman because she was flirting with Heard. Sexton claims to have heard Depp asking Heard for forgiveness.

Also during this time, Heard told her that Depp had “lost his mind” because of a painting that Tasya (Heard’s ex-partner) gave her. Sexton assures that there she began to notice that Depp was a jealous person.

2014

Sexton claims to have heard JD call AH a “b*itch.” Heard allegedly told her that he had also called her a “fat ass” and that it made her insecure about her physique. In addition, she claims that Depp didn’t like Heard being around James Franco, the actor with whom she was later linked, and that JD had said that he “had to keep a close eye on her”.

Heard also told her that Depp allegedly used to break her phones, so there were periods when she couldn’t contact Heard because he had broken it.

She also states that she saw marks and bruises on Heard, and that she asked her if Depp hit her, to which she responded by lowering her head.

Regarding the incident on the flight from Boston to Los Angeles, AH’s version of events to Sexton was that “JD had hit her”.

2015

Regarding the incident in Australia, Heard narrated the events to Sexton, assuring that Depp had cut his own finger, that he had tried to strangle her and that he had thrown bottles at her.

She remembers, she says, JD bragging that he had been let into Australia with drugs and that they had put on quite a show because of the dogs.

2016

According to Sexton’s statement, AH began to think about leaving JD, but was worried above all about the bad publicity this would generate for her, going so far as to tell her that “the whole world would hate her”.

Before Heard’s birthday, she finally admitted to her that he “shoved her, choked her, kicked her or pulled her hair”.

During the birthday party, Sexton alleges that Depp arrived 2-3 hours after her, totally drunk and creating an awkward atmosphere among the guests. Supposedly, Heard’s friend Pennington tried to break the ice by proposing a game where everyone had to tell their favorite story with AH. Depp allegedly said that what he liked most about Heard was her ass, leaving her humiliated and embarrassed.

After spending the weekend with friends at the Coachella festival, Heard confessed to Sexton that after everyone left the party, JD slammed a phone into her face, grabbed her by the hair and dragged her across the room. Sexton claims to have seen a redness on Heard’s face when she visited her.

Laura DiVenere

Interior designer who worked decorating one of Depp’s penthouses in the Eastern Columbia building in Los Angeles between 2014 and 2016. After that, DiVenere states that she continued to work for Heard to this day, even considering her one of her friends.

Despite this, her statement is surprising, since it’s totally contrary to the version of events that AH presents. DiVenere denies ever seeing any marks or signs of violence on AH. In addition, she assures that she sees Depp as a very nice person, whom she has never seen being violent with anyone.

May 2016

DiVenere was with Heard for three days after one of the alleged incidents, during which AH claims Depp hit her in the face with a phone, causing her a bruise. DiVenere denies seeing any marks on Heard’s face. Despite being her friend, Heard also didn’t refer to any altercation or aggression, as did her friends iO Tillet Wright and Raquel Pennington and her sister Whitney Heard.

To the contrary, DiVenere claimed to have seen Heard behaving violently on several occasions. In one of them, she heard her scream on the phone at her assistant, Kate James, who later called DiVenere herself crying.

Following the divorce petition, Heard packed to move out of the apartment. DiVenere remembers seeing various pieces of furniture paid by Depp covered with post-its that read “Owned by Amber Heard”.

👁️ She never saw marks on AH.
👁️ She never saw JD being violent.
👁️ She did see AH being violent with JD and other people.

Lily-Rose Depp

Daughter of JD and his ex-partner Vanessa Paradis. Like her mother, she came out in defense of Depp after the accusations made against him by AH. Lily-Rose said “My father is the sweetest and kindest person I know”.

Previously, when Lily-Rose was 16, she was the victim of manipulation by one of AH’s main witnesses, iO Tillet Wright. According to the statement from her father, JD, iO tricked Lily-Rose into a photo shoot for her, later using her image by claiming that Lily-Rose publicly came out as bisexual. These events occurred without the consent of her parents, Depp and his ex-partner Vanessa Paradis, nor that of the minor herself, who at no time agreed to speak publicly about her sexual condition.

Lisa Beane

Receptionist at Dr. Kipper’s office. She received AH the day she was allegedly assaulted by JD.

Depp included her in his witness list for the trial of Virginia (United States).

👁️ She never saw marks on AH.

Melanie Inglessis

AH’s makeup artist. She started working for her in 2015, after meeting her at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. Afterwards, they became great friends and, consequently, she also befriended her group of friends (iO Tillet Wright, Raquel Pennington…).

December 16, 2015

Inglessis claims that the first time she saw “physical evidence of abuse” by Johnny was before AH’s appearance on James Corden’s Late Late Show. Supposedly, Inglessis was able to see Heard’s split lip, which she chose to make up with bright red, a swollen, black eye, and a strand of hair pulled out.

To this day, the recordings of the program, with close-ups included, show us a face without swelling or cuts, and make it very difficult to believe that wounds of this type could be hidden with makeup.

May 2016

According to the statement by Inglessis, who claims to have seen Depp on more than one occasion in a “state of intoxication”, AH alternately spoke to her about how much she loved him and that he mistreated her. These conversations allegedly took place after Heard filed for divorce and restraining order.

Nathan Holmes

JD’s second personal assistant. Holmes appears on the witness list proposed by JD for the trial against AH in Fairfax (Virginia), although he ultimately didn’t testify.

Norman Todd

Executive Producer and Senior Vice President of Production and Development at Infinitum Nihil, JD’s film production company. Todd appeared on a first list of people contributed by Depp in support of his lawsuit against AH in 2019 for her article in the Washington Post.

Paige Heard

AH’s mother. Through some text messages published after being accepted as evidence for the trial, it’s deduced that both Heard and her husband got along very well with their son-in-law, JD. Even after AH’s accusations of alleged abuse against her then-husband, they don’t seem to see Depp as an abuser. On the contrary, they remind him of the great affection they have for him and try to get their daughter and him to fix things.

Even so, her husband’s version would change radically, only upon learning that Depp had stopped economically financing his daughter and, therefore, him, since he also profited. Apparently, the fact that his daughter might be being abused by her husband wasn’t enough to make him angry, but instead, having his tap cut off caused David Heard to even threaten Depp with shooting him.

As for Paige Heard, there’s no more information, since she passed away suddenly on May 4, 2020, at the age of 63.

Raquel “Rocky” Pennington

AH’s friend since 2003. Yoga teacher and jewelry store owner. She lived for free with her ex-husband Joshua Drew in one of the penthouses owned by JD in the Eastern Columbia building in Los Angeles. Of all the situations described in her statement, there are very few in which her testimony could be relevant, since a large part of her narration comes from what her friend AH told her.

She begins her testimony by pointing out facts about JD’s behavior in his relationship with Heard, such as the fact that AH confessed to her that Depp had tried to burn a painting painted by Heard’s ex-partner, Tasya Van Ree.

June 2013

Pennington also talks about Depp’s birthday party in Hicksville, during which she says she saw JD assault a friend of hers for hugging AH. Later, Heard told her that JD had allegedly vandalized the trailer they were staying in.

Heard reportedly first told Pennington that JD assaulted her after the incident on the flight from Boston to Los Angeles, in which Heard claimed Depp kicked her and knocked her to the ground. Still, Pennington wasn’t present for her testimony to have judicial relevance.

March 8, 2015

Similarly, Pennington wasn’t present during the incident in Australia, so her testimony isn’t relevant. Pennington only references Heard’s version of events.

All Pennington could see for herself were cuts on the front of Heard’s arms. Later, Jerry Judge, head of the security team, would assure in some recordings collected by Heard herself that he had seen this type of injury before and could assure that they were self-inflicted.

The rest of the narrative copies the statement that Heard herself made of the facts: Depp was the one who yelled at her, assaulted her and threw glass bottles at her, being he, according to her version, the one who cut his own finger. Even Pennington insists that JD himself confessed to having cut it off, something that he himself and the rest of the eyewitnesses to the incident flatly denied.

November 2015

Pennington, her husband Joshua Drew, JD, AH and other friends dined together on Thanksgiving night. According to Pennington’s statement, at one point in the night Heard went looking for Depp, who was upstairs in the apartment. Upon returning, Heard confessed to Pennington that Depp had thrown a glass bottle at one of the paintings in the bedroom, painted by AH’s ex-partner, Tasya Van Ree.

December 2015

AH texts her saying JD headbutted her. When Pennington goes to her apartment, she claims to find Heard with a split lip and a lock of hair torn out.

Pennington took photos of the damage Depp allegedly left behind, including the broken edge of the bed, which AH later told her was due to Depp “throwing her face down on the bed and kicking her in the back”.

The next day, Heard was scheduled to make a television appearance on James Corden’s show. Due to her alleged visible injuries, Heard was prepped for her appearance by her makeup artist, Melanie Inglessis, her hairstylist, Adir Abergel, and her wardrobe manager, Samantha McMillen. Pennington supports the version of Inglessis, who claims that she had to make up AH to hide her split lip and her two black eyes. Both also agree that Abergel had to fix her hair to hide the area where she was supposedly missing a lock.

On the contrary, McMillen totally denies this version of the facts, assuring that she saw Heard for several hours, with natural light and semi-nude, and at no time did she see any kind of mark or sign of violence on her body or face. As far as Abergel is concerned, he didn’t present any testimony in this regard.

April 2016

Pennington also narrates the events that occurred during AH’s birthday party, which JD arrived at, according to her statement, when everyone had finished dinner and the guests were beginning to leave.

Hours after leaving, Pennington claims to have received a text from AH stating that she and JD had argued and ended up throwing her cell phone out the window, so she asked her to wake her up the next day as she couldn’t set the alarm on her phone.

When Pennington went the next morning, she found her bedroom littered with broken glass. According to Pennington, she woke her up and Heard began to cry.

May 21, 2016

Pennington got a message from her friend AH and ran from apartment to apartment looking for her. According to her statement, when she got to the door, she heard AH and JD arguing. She knocked on the door but they didn’t open. Since Pennington, she claims, had a copy of the keys to the apartment where AH and JD resided, she decided to go inside.

Pennington says that, when she walked in, she saw Heard on the floor with her hands over her head as Depp yelled at her. Pennington claims that she stepped between them in an attempt to protect Heard and that Depp then “pulled her away from him and yelled obscenities at her”.

According to Pennington’s version, JD swung a glass bottle like a baseball bat and used it to hit everything within reach, then yelled up to 10 times for Heard to get up off the ground.

At that moment, Pennington testifies, Depp’s bodyguards appeared, including Jerry Judge (the head of security). AH allegedly begged him to help her, but Judge didn’t do anything. When Depp left, Pennington and her husband let Heard into their apartment and locked themselves in.

Pennington says that she then saw marks of the attack on Heard’s face (redness and swelling in her right eye), and that she was shaking and scared. Pennington then decided to take photographs of her alleged injuries, which accompanied her statement.

Robin Baum

She was JD’s publicist for years. For a time, the press linked Baum and Depp romantically, although so far there has been no evidence to confirm this information. Baum appears on the witness list proposed by JD for the trial against AH in Fairfax (Virginia, United States), although she ultimately didn’t testify.

Rochelle Hathaway

Stewardess and influencer. According to the statement of Whitney Henriquez, AH’s sister, Depp was unfaithful to Heard with her. No other testimony speaks of this and there is no evidence to confirm this statement.

Samantha McMillen

She was the stylist in charge of AH’s wardrobe for her appearance on James Corden’s television show, just the day after one of the alleged assaults on Heard by JD.

Unlike Heard’s friend or even her make-up artist, McMillen, who saw Heard that day for several hours semi-naked and in natural light, assures that at no time did she see any type of mark or sign of having suffered violence on Heard’s face or body.

Sam Sarkar

CEO of Infinitum Nihil, the film production company founded by JD. Sarkar appears on the witness list presented by Depp for the trial in Virginia (United States), although he ultimately didn’t testify.

Savannah McMillan

AH’s ex-assistant and friend. McMillan was involved in two relevant incidents.

May 24, 2014

One of them was on the private flight from Boston to Los Angeles, when she was accompanying Heard, along with JD and other members of his team. On that flight, according to Heard’s version, JD got drunk and started making fun of his then-fiancée, even tripping her up when she got up from her seat. The rest of the witnesses contradict Heard’s version. McMillan’s testimony isn’t found in the trial documents, so it’s understood that she was unable to observe the incident to describe what happened.

September 2014

Another matter McMillan was involved in occurred after AH was notified by the US Department of Homeland Security of a possible breach. Apparently, McMillan, of British origin, had remained in the United States working as an assistant for Heard without a work permit. McMillan allegedly wrote a letter denying that AH had hired her and claiming that she was just a friend of hers. Later, AH would ask Kate James, her assistant, to send it on her behalf to the Department of Homeland Security. Curiously, McMillan misspelled her own name, which opens the hypothesis that the letter was written directly by Heard pretending to be McMillan.

Sophia Myles

Actress who worked alongside JD in the film From Hell. Myles has publicly defended Depp on numerous occasions through her social networks, in which she has assured that, during the time she was working with him, JD was a nice person with her.

Stephen Deuters

JD’s former personal assistant. He’s currently the European President of Infinitum Nihil, the film production company founded by Depp. Along with his wife, also a producer, Deuters regularly accompanies JD on all his business trips and public appearances since 2004. As a result, he was almost daily and very regularly close to Heard, whom he denies having ever seen signs of having suffered aggression.

Instead, Deuters claims that Depp confessed to him on several occasions that Heard was violent towards him, both physically and verbally.

May 24, 2014

Deuters traveled with Depp and Heard on a private flight from Boston to Los Angeles. They were also accompanied by Jerry Judge, Depp’s head of security, Keenan Wyatt, a sound technician, and Savannah McMillan, Heard’s friend and assistant.

JD and AH were sitting at the central table in the cabin of the plane. For their part, Deuters and Judge took seats facing the table frontally, so they had a continuous view of the scene.

Deuters flatly denies the version of events narrated by Heard, in which she assures that Depp, drunk and drugged, attacked her and gave her a kick that knocked her to the ground. According to Deuters’ version, which coincides with that of Judge and Wyatt, it was AH who began to behave aggressively against Depp, continually trying to provoke him while he was drawing or writing in his notebook.

At one point, AH got up from her seat and JD made a casual attempt to touch her leg, as an appeasing gesture. Heard stumbled and took this as an insult, prompting her to yell that Depp “kicked her and knocked her to the ground”. Deuters, who had clearly seen what had happened, was surprised to see AH’s hysterical reaction. Deuters and Judge decided to intervene to calm her down. Judge took Heard to talk to her, while Deuters spoke briefly with Depp, after which Depp locked himself in the bathroom and stayed there for the rest of the flight.

Heard also claimed that Depp threw a chair at her, which Deuters says was impossible, since all the seats on the plane, as on all planes, were anchored to the floor of the cabin.

The next day, Depp asked Deuters to help him smooth things over to calm AH down, even if that meant agreeing and apologizing on his part.

January 25, 2015

According to Heard’s statement, Depp assaulted her during a trip to Tokyo, in which the presentation of one of JD’s films was being celebrated. Deuters, who accompanied them on that trip, denies seeing marks or any signs of violence on AH. In addition, he claims, AH was in a very good mood throughout the trip and made no mention of being assaulted.

March 8, 2015

Deuters accompanied Depp during his stay in Australia. He and his security team stayed in a hotel, while JD stayed in a house with AH. Deuters didn’t learn about the incident or JD’s finger injury until his security team took him to the hotel room where they were staying to protect him from Heard. It was then that they discovered the seriousness of the injury and agreed that it was best to take Depp to the hospital.

Once treated, Depp told them the next day that it had been Heard who had caused the injury by throwing a glass bottle against his hand, and that she had also caused a burn on his cheek by putting out a cigarette in it, whose mark they could see perfectly. Still, JD asked them not to make a big deal out of it so it wouldn’t go public, so they all agreed to claim that he had been injured when his finger got caught in a door.

Ben King, manager of the property where JD and AH stayed, accompanied Heard back to Los Angeles. Neither he nor anyone who saw her that day confessed to Deuters anything related to her having suffered mistreatment by Depp.

Tara Roberts

Manager of Depp’s property in the Bahamas since 2008. She speaks of JD as an “unusually kind” man, whom she has never seen behave violently towards anyone.

Instead, Roberts speaks of AH as having an obsession with throwing objects whenever she got angry. In addition, she saw Heard violently attack Depp, pull his hair or commit other physical attacks against him on several occasions, adding to the destruction left by her outbursts throughout the property.

Before the arrival of AH in JD’s life, Roberts remembers the familiar and pleasant atmosphere that Depp created during his stay, time that he shared with the employees of the property, even eating together. Ever since Heard came into his life, she rarely got to talk to JD alone. AH always ended up intruding. Depp spent a lot of time alone, locked up or sleeping.

August 17, 2014

Faced with AH’s claims that she was assaulted by JD during her stay on the island and that he knocked down a door, Roberts defends another version of events. According to her, at no time were any doors broken, since, as part of her job, she would have been the first to know.

In addition, Roberts assures, Depp arrived with Debbie Lloyd, his nurse, on August 8, just the day after he allegedly assaulted Heard on the island. Roberts didn’t see any altercations or signs of violence or argument, which would have been obvious on such a tiny island.

December 29, 2015

Roberts saw JD go to his office, in a building apart from the main house. Depp told her that he needed to get away from AH and be alone. Soon after, Heard showed up at JD’s office asking him to come back to the house. Roberts walked out leaving them alone.

Minutes later, Roberts heard the engine of the small vehicle Depp used to get around the island. She watched as Heard stepped in front of the car, blocking his way as she yelled at him. Helpless in the face of the situation, Roberts called JD’s sister, Christi Dembrowski. Meanwhile, Heard insulted Depp with expressions such as “your career is over”, “no one is going to hire you”, “fat old man” and “you’re going to die alone”. Throughout, Depp remained in an appeasing position, not physically intervening, and simply repeating over and over “leave me alone, go away, I need to be alone”. Heard kept clawing at him, shaking him and pushing him, more and more violently.

It was then that Dembrowski recommended Roberts to intervene. Roberts stood between the two until Heard gave up. When Roberts took Depp to the cafeteria area, she saw that he had a wound on his nose.

The next day, Roberts could see the surroundings of the office littered with scattered and broken brushes and tubes of paint. Heard had thrown away her engagement ring and ordered it to be found and returned to her. By then, Roberts was able to see Heard’s face in broad daylight, where there was no sign of having been assaulted.

To Roberts’ surprise, Heard had called a photographer friend of JD’s, Greg Williams, to do a photo shoot for them on the island, just the day after the argument.

Roberts was also surprised to see that when they left, AH had packed up all her belongings, when it was her custom to always leave personal effects on the island.

Tracey Jacobs

JD’s artistic representative since his inception, under the agency UTA (United Talent Agency). It was one of the most envied working relationships in the world of entertainment, not only for its duration, but for how well they got along.

In October 2016, it was announced that Jacobs had stopped representing JD. According to some media, this was due to financial problems on Depp’s part, who had transferred his services to the CAA agency (which represents artists such as Robert Downey Jr., Sandra Bullock, George Clooney or Jennifer Lawrence).

AH claimed that JD had also become violent with Jacobs, according to evidence presented by Heard in response to JD’s lawsuit in 2019 after the article she wrote in the Washington Post.

Jacobs herself stated that she believed JD had indeed assaulted AH, based on “his behavior and inconsistencies, as well as his violent outbursts”.

Trinity Esparza

Administrator in the Eastern Columbia Building for 6 years, offering concierge, administration and reception services. Esparza didn’t speak directly to Depp on any occasion. Instead, she did strike up a conversation with Heard on more than one occasion as a receptionist, when she required her services. In her statement, Esparza explains what she saw on the key days in which AH was allegedly assaulted by JD.

May 21, 2016

That night, Esparza wasn’t working in the building. One of her employees called to warn her that a police patrol had come to gain access to one of JD’s penthouses, so Esparza called Depp’s property manager, Kevin Murphy, to inform him.

May 22, 2016

One of the employees, janitor Cornelius Harrell, told Esparza that he had spoken with Heard when she came to pick up a package that had arrived. Harrell stated that AH was in a good mood and didn’t see any signs of violence on her face, even though she would claim after that she had been assaulted by Depp the night before.

May 23-24, 2016

Esparza saw Heard both days as she entered and left the building. They greeted each other as usual and Esparza didn’t see any mark or sign of violence on AH’s face or body.

May 25, 2016

AH gave Esparza a set of keys and asked her to give them to the cleaners. Esparza let her know that she needed their names for security, to which Heard replied that “she didn’t have time to find out that kind of thing”.

During the conversation, Esparza was able to see Heard without makeup and with her hair tied back, and at no time did she see any mark or sign of violence on her face or body.

May 27, 2016

Esparza saw Heard leave accompanied by her friend, Raquel Pennington. For the first time, Esparza saw on Heard’s face what looked like a redness on her right cheek. She confessed to her that she was going to divorce. Days later, Esparza learned from the media that Heard had also filed a restraining order against Depp.

May 30, 2016 – June 3, 2016

Since guaranteeing the security of the building was one of her tasks, Esparza began to worry about the issue of possible attacks, so she decided to review the recordings of the building’s security cameras.

Esparza tried to remember everything she had seen in the previous days. She knew that JD had left the building on the night of May 21 and could tell that he hadn’t been back since, with security footage to prove it. But Esparza didn’t see marks on Heard’s face until the 27th, a week later. That was how she realized that the story told by the media didn’t square with the facts.

Esparza carefully reviewed the numerous recordings in which Heard appeared from May 21 onwards, and in none of them did she present any mark or sign of violence.

But what made Esparza even more skeptical of Heard’s version was one video in particular. In it, AH, her friend Raquel Pennington and her sister Whitney Henriquez appeared on May 24, just 3 days after one of the alleged attacks. Heard, without any signs of having suffered violence, laughed and joked very animatedly along with her companions. Then, her sister Whitney gesticulated pretending that she hit AH’s face with her closed fist, as a mockery. All three burst out laughing.

Esparza decided to report it to Brandon Patterson, the general manager of the building, and even shared her concern with Alejandro Romero, her co-worker.

Shortly after Heard filed for divorce and a restraining order against JD, Depp’s lawyers spoke with building employees. Esparza urged them to search security footage for evidence, including the scene of the fake punch.

That same week that AH had allegedly appeared with a mark on her face, Esparza again saw her face without any marks at all when she told her that the door was full of paparazzi and that she needed help to get in without being seen.

Also that same week, Esparza saw a plant that someone had sent for AH arrive at the building. A resident of the building found a card, which was later linked to the plant, which was apparently a gift. The card read “I’ve had a wonderful weekend with you” and was signed by an “E”. Building employees learned that it was Elon Musk, who regularly visited Heard when Depp was away, even spending the night at the apartment.

June 9, 2016

AH went to talk to the employees of the building, angry because, according to her, they had spoken to the press. Patterson, the general manager, denied these statements, alleging that the privacy of the residents was a very important premise. Obviously, the judicial process was a clear exception. Heard tried to convince them to talk to People magazine, apparently sympathetic to her version, to which the employees refused.

June – July 2016

Weeks after Depp left the apartment and didn’t return, Esparza saw Elon Musk leave the apartment at 9 in the morning, asking her to help him get out through the garage discreetly. Later, Esparza’s partner, Alejandro Romero, assured her that Musk’s visits to AH were very frequent whenever Depp wasn’t in the building, and had been for more than a year.

The same day, Esparza saw Heard with a faint mark on her cheek, cuts on her arm and some band-aids.

Vanessa Paradis

She was Depp’s romantic partner for 14 years, during which they raised 2 children together. Paradis states in her testimony that JD was never violent against her or against anyone. On the contrary, she describes the father of her children as someone kind, caring and generous.

She assures that she firmly believes that AH’s accusations are totally false and affirms that she’s hurt by how these statements have affected her ex-partner’s personal life and professional career.

Whitney Heard Henriquez

She is AH’s sister. According to Henriquez’s testimony, when her sister introduced her to JD, he seemed to her a shy and pleasant man with whom, she says, she immediately connected to the point that he called her “sis” (short for “sister”).

According to Henriquez’s version, her sister AH began to tell her that they had constant fights, which lasted days, in which, after several days without speaking, Depp sent her long voice messages apologizing and they ended up reconciling. Henriquez goes so far as to declare that she herself used to act as an intermediary in their discussions, going so far as to nickname herself “the marriage counselor”.

Supposedly, according to Henriquez, her sister was trying to smooth things over and calm him down, but this made him even angrier. This last statement is curious, given that it’s precisely the opposite version to that of most witnesses who talk about this issue, being Depp the one who tries to calm the situation by moving away from the scene, while Heard was even more enraged by it.

Henriquez also assures that JD began to show some displeasure with AH getting roles. There came a point where, according to Henriquez, Depp promised to provide financially for her, her sister and her parents just to get AH to stop working. Henriquez says she remembers Depp once offering AH a credit card and she insisted on turning it down.

In the same way, Henriquez says she remembers that Depp controlled the way AH dressed, sometimes forcing her to change her dress so that it wouldn’t be so “revealing”. Henriquez describes JD as “incredibly possessive and jealous”. She claims to have been talking to Nathan Holmes, Depp’s assistant, about AH doing a screen test for the film Aquaman, and how Depp would take the fact that her stage partner was Jason Momoa.

She also describes JD as someone violent. According to Henriquez’s statement, AH regularly had to change her phone because he would throw it away or break it. Apparently, he would also verbally assault her with words like “wh*re”, “fat” or “ugly” even when he was sober. She assures that Depp told her totally different versions, in which it was Heard who insulted him, something that Henriquez decides to attribute to his drug use, which she says “made him completely forget what he did and said”.

March 2013

Henriquez places JD’s first assault to AH during a conversation about Depp’s tattoo which initially read “Winona Forever”, but which was eventually changed to “Wino Forever”. According to Henriquez, her sister confessed to having joked about it, to which Depp allegedly responded with a slap that made her fall to the ground.

Henriquez claims her sister didn’t tell her about this incident until the time she was divorcing Depp.

Also during this time, Henriquez recalls an incident involving a painting by Tasya Van Ree, Heard’s ex-partner. According to her testimony, when Henriquez went to try to “conciliate the situation”, she found Depp drunk and drugged, sitting in the kitchen. AH tried to pacify him by hugging him, but he pushed her away from him. Later, she told her that he had tried to burn the painting of her ex.

Henriquez claims to have come to the conclusion that JD wasn’t jealous of AH’s ex-partners, but was just “looking for an excuse to get drunk and not go to the recording set.” She assures that his assistant, Nathan Holmes, had to come to hide the cocaine so that he could leave the house and go to the event that he had planned together with his friend Keith Richards.

Since Depp insisted that Heard had to go with him, they both accompanied him. Henriquez claims Depp grabbed Pistol, one of the couple’s dogs, and shook her out the car window, threatening to drop her and saying “they should try putting her in the microwave”.

June 2013

Henriquez tells her version of events during JD’s birthday celebration in Hicksville. She claims that Holmes, his assistant, provided him with cocaine and marijuana. Although Henriquez wasn’t present during the incident, she recounts in her statement what Raquel Pennington, Heard’s best friend, told her the next morning.

Apparently, Depp had seen one of Heard’s friends hug her, whereupon he flew into a rage and lunged at her, grabbing her arm and pulling her away, yelling “Get away from my wife” and “Do you know how much pressure I would need to break your wrist?”.

According to Henriquez, her sister AH took Depp to his caravan to try and calm him down, where he allegedly set about destroying everything in it and even ripping Heard’s dress.

It was also around 2013 that Henriquez claims to have started seeing signs of physical violence on her sister, such as cuts or bruises. When she asked her about them, Henriquez assures that her sister avoided the subject or lied to her, and that it was later when she finally confessed and apologized for not having done so before, supposedly excusing herself that she wanted to protect her husband.

In September, before AH and JD got engaged, Henriquez claims to have once seen a bruise on her sister’s eye. When she broached the subject, she reportedly excused Depp by saying that they “fought too hard, but loved each other even harder”. After allegedly seeing many more marks on AH’s face and body, she told her about getting engaged to Depp, something Henriquez claims she disliked and that she tried to talk her out of it.

May 2014 – Flight from Boston to Los Ángeles

Henriquez wasn’t present during the flight between Boston and Los Angeles, in which Heard allegedly claims that Depp got drunk, kicked her and threw a chair at her. Henriquez describes the version told to her by her sister, her friend Savannah McMillan, and iO Tillet Wright, who was also not present.

August 2014 – Detox in the Bahamas

Another moment that Henriquez narrates in her statement despite not having been present is that of the time that AH and JD spent on their island in the Bahamas with the intention of Depp getting detoxified. Heard describes those days as a torment in which Depp would allegedly switch moods from telling her how much he loved her to strangling her, yelling at her and breaking things.

November 2014

During the night that Depp was to be present at an award ceremony, Henriquez alleges that Depp got drunk at his house and refused to go. According to her statement, she had to go talk to him herself, while Depp’s sister, Christi Dembrowski, insisted that they had to leave now and, supposedly, she blamed Henriquez for entertaining him.

During said conversation, Henriquez assures that Depp confessed to her that he was upset because AH had auditioned for a role and hadn’t told him. To this, Henriquez claims to have asked him why AH should tell him everything, to which he allegedly replied: “I’ve been in this world for more years than she’s been alive, so she should listen to me”.

Also around 2014, Henriquez stated that she had confronted the issue of aggression with JD and remembered that he confessed to her that “she hit him first” or that “she had lost control.” In the same way, she says she remembers that her father confessed to having received a text message from Depp apologizing for “hitting his daughter.” It should be noted that the messages between David Heard and Johnny Depp were extracted as legal evidence and there’s no trace of this message.

March 2015 – Incident in Australia

Henriquez speaks again in her statement about incidents in which she wasn’t present. In this case, she is referencing the incident in Australia, during which AH threw a glass bottle at JD’s hand, severing part of his finger. Henriquez narrates her testimony based on what her sister told her.

March 2015 – Stairs Incident

At the time, Henriquez was living for free in one of the apartments owned by JD and adjacent to the one he and AH used as their regular residence. A door connected both apartments.

When she entered the apartment, Henriquez claims that JD was drunk, even though Debbie Lloyd, the nurse who was monitoring his health, was with him. AH and JD were arguing, yelling and calling each other names, while their security team observed them. Henriquez argues that Depp threw a can of Red Bull at them, hitting his nurse.

As Henriquez describes in her statement, Depp then went up the stairs to the mezzanine. In this way, Henriquez, who was on the top floor at the edge of the stairs, was between Depp and her sister. Allegedly, Johnny pulled Henriquez out of his way, making her fear she would fall down the stairs. JD then tried, according to Henriquez, to hit Heard, but ended up hitting her in the arm.

In response, Henriquez states that AH “knocked lightly” at Depp to defend her. She claims that Depp then grabbed AH by the hair and “punched her head repeatedly with a clenched fist” until Travis McGivern, of the security team, allegedly intervened to separate them. Henriquez said she took her sister to the adjacent apartment.

The next morning, Henriquez states that she returned to the apartment where the incident took place, which she found to be trashed, and took pictures of everything.

August 2015 – Honeymoon

Despite not having been present, Henriquez mentions in her testimony the confession of her sister, who assured her that they had had two fights during their honeymoon, during which Depp hit her.

December 2015

During this period, Henriquez says she began to lose contact with JD, who he says accused him of leaking information to the press about their wedding. According to Henriquez, her sister also believed it and, for a time, she decreased her contact with the couple.

According to her words, Depp began to isolate Heard from her friends. This statement contrasts with the fact that a large part of Heard’s friends (such as iO Tillet Wright, Raquel Pennington, Joshua Drew, Elizabeth Marz or Henriquez herself, as she asserts in her own statement) had moved to the penthouses adjacent to JD’s, of his property, without paying any type of expense for it.

Later, when she resumed contact with her sister, Henriquez alleges that her sister told her about another assault that occurred during the last days that Henriquez lived in the adjacent apartment. During the incident, she assures her, JD tried to choke her, grabbed her by the hair and head-butted her.

January-May 2016 – Divorce and Restraining Order

Henriquez assures that, by the time she saw her sister again, she had lost weight, and she confessed that she suffered from “herpes, anxiety attacks and heart problems.” Henriquez says she was relieved when AH filed for divorce and guilty that she hadn’t intervened sooner and “more aggressively,” but that she never called the police to preserve her privacy and avoid bad publicity.

April 21, 2016 – AH’S Birthday

According to Henriquez’s statement, Depp arrived hours late for the celebration totally drunk. During the toast, the guests talked about their favorite story with AH, while Depp, according to Henriquez, talked about her butt.

The next day, on the way to the Coachella festival, AH told her sister that JD had hit her the night before, after all the guests had left. Depp was supposed to go with them to the festival, but he didn’t show up.

May 21, 2016 – Police Inspection

As on most occasions, Henriquez wasn’t present during the incident, although she decides to include it in her testimony. It was Heard’s friends, Rocky Pennington and iO Tillet Wright, who told her what had supposedly happened.

Winona Ryder

She was JD’s romantic partner for 4 years. After that, Ryder considers Depp a great friend, as part of her family, and remembers her relationship with him as one of the most significant in her life.

Ryder says that she was surprised by the accusations against JD, since her experience with him was radically different. AH’s description of Depp in her accusation is, for Ryder, the furthest thing from Depp that she knows. She assures that he was never violent against her, and describes him as a truly good, loving and protective man, with whom she always felt very safe.

Ryder concludes her statement by saying that she doesn’t want to call anyone a liar, but she finds it very hard to believe that said accusations are true, given what she knows about Depp.

OTHERS INVOLVED

Bianca Butti

She’s an actress and cinematographer from Los Angeles and was AH’s partner after her divorce with JD (with another couple of relationships by Heard in between). Their relationship became public in January 2020, when the press cameras caught them kissing in Palm Springs (California).

Butti publicly accompanied AH during the trial in London, where AH testified and gave a speech, accompanied by Butti, her sister Whitney and her lawyer Jennifer Robinson.

In December 2021 Bianca and Amber broke off their relationship. According to a source close to the couple, the reason was Heard’s recent motherhood.

Billy Bob Thornton

Actor who worked alongside AH in the film London Fields. Supposedly, one of the reasons for the fight between JD and AH in Australia after which AH injured JD with a bottle, was that Depp accused Heard of having an affair with Thornton.

Brandon McCulloch

He was AH’s couple years ago, to later become “friends”. He was a guest at the wedding between AH and JD.

After knowing the resolution of JD’s trial against The Sun newspaper, Heard and McCulloch were publicly seen on several occasions in Los Angeles, with which the press began to speculate about a new relationship.

However, for how short it lasted, everything indicates that rather AH only intended to hurt JD by showing up with McCulloch.

Elon Musk

Founding tycoon of Tesla and other technology companies. He’s related to AH as her lover for over a year while she was still married to JD.

Musk was caught on security cameras at the Eastern Columbia Building in Los Angeles, both with AH and going in and out of the penthouse apartment where she lived with her then-husband JD. In one of the images, he appears next to Heard in the elevator access to the apartments, who is semi-naked and covered with a sheet, and whom Musk hugs. Building employees reiterate the security camera version, having seen Musk visit Heard countless times, whenever Depp was away.

In addition, some photos of the two publicly kissing also came to light later, something that neither of them has denied.

On the other hand, Musk appears as the main suspect of having covered Heard in her alleged donations to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). AH publicly claimed that, following her divorce, she would donate $3.5 million of her share of the divorce settlement. Depp’s lawyers later discovered that not only had she not donated her money as she promised, but Musk had done it for her with his own money. This detail became known thanks to the publication of some emails exchanged between Heard and Anthony D. Romero, president of the ACLU, in which her name appeared.

Musk was summoned to testify as a witness in the trial between AH and JD in Fairfax (Virginia), although he ultimately didn’t testify.

James Franco

Actor who worked with AH and who has been linked as one of her lovers. Like Musk, Franco was also invited by Heard on more than one occasion to the Depp-owned apartment where she lived, always when her husband wasn’t present.

Paul Bettany

Actor who has worked on several occasions with JD, of whom he also declares himself a friend. Bettany was the subject of controversy when a series of text messages between him and Depp were uncovered. In them, both spoke in a derogatory way about AH, even joking about killing her.

Some time later, Bettany publicly apologized for said messages, alleging that it was humorous and without any intention of committing these violent acts.

Tasya Van Ree

AH’s ex-partner. She starred in one of the first situations in which we’re shown that Heard is a violent person, when both were at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and started an argument. Heard was arrested for assault on Van Ree.

Later, Van Ree downplayed the attack, claiming it had been taken out of context.
